Invest in lifelong learning and growing

lifelong learning

1. Learning to learn things by yourself:

Learning is an inherent thing in our being. As we are striding forward in our lives, lifelong learning becomes essential. Anyway, here I don’t want to mention learning as a tool for grabbing pre-prepared information or learning in a classroom.

  •  I think everyone should detach themselves from the classroom when they acquire how to read and write or after acquiring fundamental knowledge on a field. Because if you prolonged your education in a classroom setting, you might be trapped in propaganda who constantly play with your mind and time by brainwashing you.
  • Institutional education is very limited for creative learning. You have the limited faculty members to interact and choose. They all hold different beliefs, and you also guide through their vision and beliefs that hinders your real world exploration of things beyond the boundaries of limited beliefs. It is like an example of  binding an elephant’s leg with a thin rope to a little stick.
  • Sometimes, formal education binds us to a frame of fear and restricts our freedom of learning and understanding.

Well, learning to learn things by yourself means the freedom of learning whatever you want, the way you want, learning from anything, from anybody. It is called complete freedom over your learning, no mind forcing you, but heart prompting you to learn. Here are the resources for the independent life-long learner.

  • Books are an incredible source of learning, you can find well crafted books on any field to study. Especially, every book possesses immense value due to real and experienced people writing their ideas and experiences with years of dedication and commitment to share and distribute knowledge to the world.
  • Digital Courses on various platforms learner to expand their learning and skill acquisition. Additionally, Online Courses from Harvard, Yale, and Oxford stretched this learning opportunity further. Beyond that, YouTube is a great social platform where real-world experienced experts from various fields share their knowledge through free and paid courses and consulting.
  • Articles are another tremendous source for innovative life-long learners who want personal touch in their learning and growing. Each day millions of blogs and articles have been published on the internet that creates opportunities for learners to explore multi-national culture, beliefs, and approaches to broaden their real world vision and learning.
  • Podcast: the revolution of podcast production in recent years has created a unique source of learning. As a result, over 550+ millions people listened to podcasts in 2025 in various categories: personal development, Entertainment, Health, etc. And platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple podcast stand out. For example, you can listen to the series of “The History Of English podcast” to taste your podcast listening.

Now, Here are the few practices you can follow to become a life-long learner:

  • Writing to learn: I feel writing is a meditation for me because it organizes the thinking to think clearly and rigorously. And it is a magical and powerful tool to learn anything you want by picking a blank page and writing your first word in it, then you’ll see the magic of attachment of words one by one as you progress. For example, you start your writing on a blank page, exploring your thoughts and find something interesting and search it on the internet or read it in Wikipedia Or  GoogleScholar to deepen your thoughts and expand your learning.
  • Learning things by doing: Learning things by doing is an universal quality that we often find in children’s behaviors; when we give them something new, they become super curious and can’t wait to touch it and explore it, even they become so focused on playing that they forget their surroundings actions. Exactly, this human instinct of learning remains forever into us, we just need to use it for our learning to learn things from curiosity, intense urge to explore, and immense focus, nothing is pre-determined which I call Unpredictable Learning: learning by nature, not by nurture. “Alaways surprises you”
  • Learning from others: Learning from others is a mindset or an attitude that makes people limitless. And this mindset has unique characteristics to follow: exploration rather than separation in everything we do because separation blocks learning pathways by ignoring a book or a person by seeing its cover or work.

2.  Building Perception Through Observation:

Perception means how you see yourself and understand the world around you and building perception is crucial to live a life fully because it guides our life accordingly toward harmony or misery. Here are several essential elements for building perception through observation:

Observation: observation is noticing and monitoring the behaviors in the environment through the senses. Remember, one condition that has to be maintained is observation without evaluation or judgment. Here are two types of observation:

  • Introspection: introspection is the process of investigation of oneself; self-analysis through examination of thoughts, feelings, experiences, based on one’s cognitive bias, beliefs, notions, implicit hunches, etc. Understanding yourself or acquiring self-knowledge is vitally important before going out into the world for betterment. When you know yourself or know your nature, then you can participate in meaningful and impactful contributions to the world according to your strengths, talents, and unique perspectives. Thus, everyone should take time to find their hidden nature by experimenting with different things over time. After you get vision to yourself, now it is time to acquire vision beyond yourself. Practices of Introspection:
    • Spiritual Practices, not religious.
    • Reflective Essay Writing.
    • Journaling.
    • Constructive Self-talking.
    • Reflection.
  • Extrospection: Extrospection is an external observation of one’s self and the process of looking beyond self. And the extrospection is an inspection or investigation of the external self or things through external eyes. Extrospection makes people mature and diverse both intellectually and emotionally. We can learn observing how they perceive the world around them. And the intention of extrospection is learning: “What Can I Learn?”. Sometimes, judgment creates separation. So, set aside your perspective and explore others to build a diverse perspective. Practices of Extrospection:
    • Listening to others or selective listening.
    • Embracing the external world.
    • Selflessness: thinking and seeing beyond one’s self.
    • Revision.

3. Developing or Finding Affection/Connection/Unity Through Creative Actions:

Unity is the universal attitude that transmutes many into one, self to selflessness, finite to infinity, limit to limitless, near to far, and separation to connection. And diversity is the core element of unity and diversity allows people to explore the truth from versatile perspectives. Now, here are the two types of unity I’ve experienced:

1. Subjective Unity: I mean subjective unity is finding the union or connection in nature through sensory observation. In other words, connecting with nature through sensory experiences. And I find this is the great approach to acquire intuitive knowledge about the nature of the universe and self. Here are the some creative practices:

  • Quite reflective observation: Give yourself 30 minutes everyday to go out to nature to observe how the universal system works. For example, plant a seed and deeply observe every day its growth to reflect on yourself. Or sit quietly at the sunset and think about it without judgment but from pure curiosity. Anyway, one afternoon I experienced an incredible scene of a cow behaving like a human in a narrow path between tea tree lines in the tea garden by leaving the track and disappearing in the tree. When I went far away from it and saw it came back again to its track from the tea tree and walked slowly to its destination. At first I thought the cow was afraid, but later I realized it was an environmental influence in its behavior; How the environment shapes one’s character because it was in the country side of Bangladesh where people are so virtuous that they treat their animals like their children.
  • Reflection on Action: The universe is working like a mechanism where every action of creation is part of it. And every action in the universe is interconnected and if we reflect on our own action, we will find the source of progression; it is like a cause and effect or future action connected to past action. Thus, reflection on every action is the key to finding the union in everything.

2. Objective Unity: Finding the union in the objective world, means experiencing truth from different expressions. Thus, I believe that “the Truth is one but expressions are many”, wherever you look, we will see the same concept narrated in various forms or expressions. For example, from religion to science, concept is one but the ways of understanding the concept are many. More precisely, the system is one and guides/pathways are many. That is why the universe is diverse, but united. So, how to find union in our everyday life:

  • Service: Producing service is a wonderful way to connect with people and nature. Serve with what you already have; turn your existing skill to use and contribute to the world as much as you can. Involve yourself in producing or creating products like digital and physical and help people through solving problems. Thus, the service is a great way to meet with diverse and united souls.
  • Sports.
  • Permaculture.

4. Knowing The Characteristic Of Things Through Interactions:

Interaction is a robust tool in the history of mankind to use for knowing the truth or characteristics of things practically. Though observation plays a role in interaction depending on the context which we discussed earlier. And the evolution of the world has occurred through interactions. Correspondingly, we’ve influenced long tail behaviors in our daily life, and developed greater knowledge of things, thanks to the 2100 years of evolution and human exploration. Let’s explore how we can use interaction in our daily life for a better and wonderful life:

  • Experimentation: Experimentation encourages active observation to find out the results that we call innovation. And innovation is the key ingredient to our responsibility. The universe wants multiplication and we are responsible for this multiplication of a thing that we have got. For this reason, we should experiment with the resources of the world around us through improvisations to see the better outcome and improvement.
  • Exploration: The universe is like sleeping; the more we explore, the more it is expanding and awakening. It is an infinite dynamo which has no ending, continuously manifesting its unknown and mysteries. And all of these manifestations have been occurring through creative actions. Consequently, our actions are the requirement for universal reactions: we act and the universe reacts. Thus, explore everything in the universe beyond the evaluations and see everything as an opportunity to experience and learn.
  • Connection: Connection is the virtue of human evolution. Look at the development of the world around us as consequences of connection and cooperation. In other words, it is a result of collective minds, hearts, visions, and actions. Thus, connecting with quality minds, powerful hearts, extended visions, and vigorous actions are crucial for expanding our knowledge about the world and life. So, connect with people as much as you can, cooperate with businesses, meet with religions, cultures, and nature limitlessly.

5. Understanding The Self-importance In Growth:

I find the self is the gateway of growth, understanding oneself through digging inside, silently motioning through emotions, scrutinizing the value of oneself through inner reflection, finding the true instinct through self-experimentation,  appreciating the strengths and embracing the weaknesses through self-awareness. Most importantly, knowing self-responsibility is crucial to approach the world with the highest degree of perception to contribute and impact the universal cycle of contribution. So, how knowing oneself impact the world:

  • Knowing oneself is the key to understanding another self: Self is the “I AM” and every I AM is the same in the universe, but it is influenced by environment, emotions, conditions, and beliefs. Thus, the foundation is I AM and knowing that I AM will fascinate you because you’ll find everyone is the same but different. Then, your judgmental eye fades away, and your curious eye will emerge to learn and grow. One makes you separate which closes the door of learning, and another one makes you united which opens the door of learning and growing.
  • Self perception leads to contribution: People who explore inside, and observe every single inner emotions and notions, they find the sense of purpose of life. It is not all about questioning whether “Good or Bad” “meaningful or meaningless”, it is all about finding the role of oneself in the world to contribute relentlessly for the betterment of the world and life.
