Happiness comes from practicing some disciplines. For me, it comes when I lose myself in something that excites me, fascinates me, or lose track of time that I forget everything for the moment. And I realized that whenever I feel unhappy in my life, I reflect and try to figure out and see what the root causes of this unhappiness. Each time I find it simple: when I am obsessed with myself, meaning thinking about me all the time, trapping me in a narrow version of a reality that is always frustrating and full of disaster. And when I subtract myself in between my action and its outcome, I feel vastly opened inside because I am no longer in there; it’s the whole universe that replaces my inside. Now, I can see the dramatic change in my perception and in my actions.
Before then, I only thought about what I am getting from others; now I am thinking about what I am giving to others. How are they benefiting from my actions and how can I improve my actions to help them get what they want. I wanted people to respect, love, and praise me; now I want to respect, love, and praise people first. And I loved Robert Kiyosaki’s sayings: “If you want knowledge, give knowledge and if you want money, give money first.” In the past, I was putting pressure on life to give me whatever I wanted; now I am thinking about what I can give and serve life nonreciprocally, without any return.
It applies to everything from personal life to business and professional life. I see everything has changed overnight. I became more optimistic and open-minded than ever before. Just a little bit of a shift in my mindset and actions completely changed my perception of the world and the state of my life. So, the punchline or ultimate discipline is: Happiness comes from non-reciprocal giving. At the end of the day, it is so rewarding. Let’s practice it, and immediately you will see the changes in your actions and life.
Additionally, just get out of self-centered thinking, be for others because being is to love another fellow human being. Why? because of the differences, imperfections, unevenness, likes, dislikes, agreements, and disagreements. The courage of acceptance that makes people valuable, authentic, and happy. So, if you want to get happiness, practice happiness; just a tiny change in your thinking and your actions makes a huge difference in your life to transform your miserable life into a glorious life.
